Who is backward?

By Raju Solanki  || Written on 26 May 2018

He who believes in caste-system is backward.
He who is proud of his caste is backward.
He who considers his caste higher than other caste is backward.
A Brahmin who considers his Janeu as a symbol of the superiority of his caste is backward.
Similarly, he who believes his caste lower than other caste is backward.
He who imitates so-called higher castes is backward.
I reject the theory of ‘sanskirtization’ mooted by M. N. Srinivas.
The process of emulating rituals and practices of upper caste is actually ‘backwardisation.’
